Mr Richard Maloney

Rick joined UOB in 2014 and was appointed as President and CEO of UOB Thailand on 1 July 2024. Prior to his present appointment, Rick was the Business Manager / Chief Operating Officer for Group Wholesale Banking. In this capacity, he spearheaded the development and execution of strategic priorities for Wholesale Banking,and managed a diverse portfolio of business support responsibilities including infrastructure and product development projects, client services and deal implementation, anti-financial crime operations, and data monetisation initiatives.

A veteran in the banking industry with 40 years of experience, Rick began his career with finance roles in New York and subsequently worked in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has spent the last 30 years in Leadership positions across Asia in Wholesale Banking, Capital Markets and enterprise initiatives within Retail Banking.

Before joining UOB in 2014, Rick was the Chief Operating Officer for ASEAN at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has held several board positions in his career including Chairman of the Board for Bank of America Malaysia Berhad. Additionally, Rick has actively contributed to industry initiatives, representing Bank of America Merrill Lynch on the Association of Banks in Singapore and leading Singapore Financial Industry Crisis Management exercises for UOB.

Originally from New York, Rick is a graduate of New York University. Despite his American roots, he has embraced Asian culture and now calls Thailand his home.
